AU Department of Business Administration EMBA Program Students Went for a Study Trip to Hainan Island!
A 16-person delegation of EMBA students led by the Director of Division of Continuing Education of Asia University, Professor Ming-Rong Li, and Associate Professors of the Department of Business Administration, Chang-Hsien Hsu and Ting-Zhang Chang, went to Hainan University and Sanya University in China on July 29, 2016 for a six-day overseas study trip. In addition to conducting academic exchanges, the delegation visited Hainan Dongtai Agricultural Development Company and Versailles Catering & Entertainment Management Ltd Company.
In Hainan University, the AU EMBA students met Professor Hailan Jin at the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, and then listened to the speech titled “The Art of War and Enterprise Management” delivered by Professor Guoan Xue. Following they visited Hainan Dongtai Agricultural Development Company, which is specialized in agricultural cultivation, ecological construction and eco-tourism development. Since its establishment in 1999, the company has been responded actively to Hainan Provincial Party Committee’s call for farmers to plant coconuts. The company introduced, from Southeast Asia, short type high yield precocious coconut palm trees adopting scientific cultivation methods to promote the local agricultural industry.
In the morning July 31, the AU EMBA delegation went to Sanya University (SU), and had talks with Professors Zhiming Du and Yonghua Pei, and Cruise Ship Management program (belonging to the School of Tourism Management) coordinator Qiuna Wang. SU School of Management is the predecessor of SU Economic and Management Branch. At the beginning of its foundation in 2005, it offered three majors: International Economy and Trade, Accounting, and Marketing. On March 29, 2012, Sanya College of Hainan University was approved by Ministry of Education and transferred to a full-time private higher education school, with a formal name “Sanya University.”
In the afternoon, the delegation visited Versailles Catering Group located in Sanya town center. Founded in 2005, Versailles is a fusion garden restaurant which covers a floor area of 1,500 square meters with 13 private dining rooms and can occupy nearly 700 guests at one time. Versailles employs five-star chefs from Taiwan, to offer the most authentic Taiwanese cuisines. The restaurant offers user-friendly service. Its European-style garden decoration has attracted countless foreign tourists and local white-collar class consumers.
The Director of Division of Continuing Education of Asia University, Professor Ming-Rong Li addressed that the AU Department of Business Administration has provided overseas study trips every summer for graduate students. The overseas industrial visits enable students to have a better understanding of international business management and operation, which will enhance students’ global perspectives. In addition to meeting academic and industrial communities, the AU EMBA students and faculty members visited Luhuitou Park, Dadonghai, boundary Island, and Yetian Ancient Village. All these attractions’ tourism management models impressed them a lot.
